Day 1 Arrival In Belize & Transfer to Crooked Tree

After clearing customs at the Airport your Guide will meet you and drive you to Bird’s Eye View Lodge. Since we may find exotic birds (Wood Storks, Tiger Herons, sometimes Jabirus) on the way to the Lodge unpack your cameras and binoculars now as your lenses will fog over by the warm, humid Belizean air. Spend the afternoon discovering the diverse flora and fauna here on our property and take a Self-guided Bird Walk along the shore or under the nearby canopy. Look along the shore for our resident Southern Lapwing, the only one in Belize. (Guides available, fee not included). Finally, enjoy a superb dinner at Lodge and the brilliant night sky from our deck before turning in.

Day 2 Birding-by-Boat at Lodge and Crooked Tree & Baboon Sanctuary Trip

Your day begins with a brilliant sunrise (optional) and an early morning Birding-by-Boat Cruise along the shores and tributaries of Spanish Lagoon. Typically we will see 25 or more species of shore birds and waders feeding and flying before returning for a late breakfast. Relax on the patio and bring your bird list up to date or a take Nature Walk along road to Crooked Tree Village. You will see many trees and flowers unique to Belize. After a late lunch you will visit the Baboon Sanctuary where you will be taken on a guided tour of the Baboons (Yucatan Howler Monkeys) and enjoy a Guided Bird Walk through the grounds. Then we will return to Lodge for dinner. After dinner recount your adventures with other guests in the lounge, dining room or patio, or, enjoy an Evening Bird Walk before the sunset.

Day 3 New River Cruise to Lamanai Mayan Temples Site

After an early morning optional Bird Walk you will have breakfast and be transported to the New River landing for a cruise down the New River (a principle transportation route in Mayan times) past the Mennonite farms to Lamanai Landing; watch for Wood Storks nesting high in a bare tree or Northern Jacanas walking on the lily pads. At the landing you will begin a guided tour under the trees to the Mask Temple and the Main Temple compound. Climb to the top for a spectacular view. You will likely see Toucans and other birds in the high canopy. After a picnic lunch at the landing and a bit of shopping you will return upriver and meet the shuttle back to Bird’s Eye View Lodge. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing or on a Self-guided Bird Walk before dinner at the Lodge

Day 4 Altun Ha

After breakfast you will be taken to the Altun Ha Maya Archeological Site. After a leisurely tour of its temples and grounds, be sure to visit the artist and artisans at work at the native craft pavilion. This is one of the finest craft pavilion you will find in Belize and it’s a good place to find better quality gifts and mementos. From Altun Ha you will be taken to the Kukumba Beach where you will have lunch and enjoy swimming in the Caribbean sea or to go birding at captain hook shrimp farm where you can also have lunch. Finally back to the lodge for overnight and dinner.

Day 5 Xunantunich & Belize Zoo

After breakfast at the Lodge your guide will drive you to San José Succotz near the Guatemalan border where you will cross the Rio Mopán via hand powered ferry to visit Xunantunich, a key Mayan Cerimonial site. After visiting Xunantunich you will be driven into San Ingacio for lunch and shopping in the town center. Finally, you will be driven to the Belize National Zoo where you will see Black Leopards and other native Belizean animals, birds and reptiles. From there you return to the Lodge for dinner.

Day 6 Departure From Lodge & Transfer to Belize Airport

You will have time for another morning Birding-by Boat Cruise,
if your flight schedule allows. (Fee not included.)

You will be taken to International Airport Departure Lounge in time for your flight.
